I created Support Group Plus because I got tired of watching two bad options:
What it actually is
I lead every session. Personally. Small group (max 12). Specific topic each week. You get the warmth of shared experience — people who actually get it — PLUS the guidance of a trained clinician who can help you do something with what you're feeling.
For $5. Because community shouldn't be a luxury.
Topics rotate weekly
- Anxiety management (not "just breathe" — real strategies)
- Parenting when you're barely holding it together
- Divorce and co-parenting
- Grief (the messy, non-linear kind)
- Recovery and sobriety support
- General life-is-hard sessions
How it works
- Pick a session from the schedule
- Pay $5 (yes, really)
- Show up on secure video
- Talk as much or as little as you want
- Leave with at least one thing you can use this week
What makes this different
- A licensed clinician leads every session (not a peer facilitator)
- Small groups mean you actually get heard
- Specific topics (not "open share" sessions that go in circles)
- $5 removes the cost barrier entirely
- No commitment — come once, come every week, come back after six months
60 Minutes That Change Your Week
Check-In
We start by connecting. How's everyone? What's happened since last time? Did anyone try the strategy from last session? This is where we build trust and presence.
Topic Introduction
I introduce the session's focus — it might be managing anxiety triggers, setting boundaries with family, navigating medication conversations, or processing grief. I share what I know clinically and what I've learned personally. I teach something.
Guided Discussion
This is the heart of it. The group engages. People share. I guide. When someone's stuck, I offer a reframe. When someone has insight, I highlight it. When someone needs a strategy, I give one. It's collaborative and alive.
Takeaways & Close
We don't just end. We close with intention. What's one thing you're taking from today? What's one small action for this week? I send everyone off with something concrete.
This might be for you if...
- You want support but can't afford $150+/hour therapy right now
- You've tried support groups and wished someone was actually leading them
- You're dealing with something and just need to know you're not alone
- You want strategies, not just sympathy
- You're curious about therapy but not ready to dive into one-on-one
- You're between therapists and need something in the meantime
- You're in a good place and want to stay there with ongoing support
- You're a caregiver (parent, partner, family member) and never get to focus on your stuff
$5. Yes, Really.
I could charge more. People tell me I should. But here's the thing:
I created Support Group Plus because I believe access matters. Mental health support shouldn't be a luxury that only people with good insurance or high incomes can afford. Five dollars covers the platform costs and respects everyone's time — mine and yours — without creating a barrier.
- 60 minutes of professionally-guided group support
- A clinician (me) leading every single session
- Real strategies you can use that week
- A community of people who get it
- No contracts. No subscriptions. Pay per session.
What people say
"I started coming to Support Group Plus because I couldn't afford therapy anymore. I stayed because it honestly helps me more than my old therapy sessions did. Cathy doesn't just let us talk — she actually teaches us things."
— Member, 38
"The first session I attended, I cried. Not because anything bad happened, but because for the first time in months, I felt like I wasn't doing this alone. And Cathy said exactly the thing I needed to hear at exactly the right moment."
— Member, 45
"I've done AA. I've done group therapy through the VA. This is different. Cathy actually knows what she's talking about, and she makes you feel like your story matters. For five bucks? It's the best money I spend all week."

Common Questions
Do I have to talk?
Nope. You can listen as long as you need to. Most people open up after a session or two, but there's zero pressure.
How many people are in a group?
I keep it small — usually 6-10 people, never more than 12. Big enough for diverse perspectives, small enough that everyone can be heard.
Is it the same people every time?
There's a core group that attends regularly, and new faces join all the time. Both are welcome.
Is this confidential?
Yes. What's shared in group stays in group. We establish that at the start of every session.
Can I attend if I'm also in individual therapy?
Absolutely. Many members are. It's complementary, not a replacement.
What platform do you use?
A secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You'll get a link via email. All you need is a phone, tablet, or computer with internet.
What if I can't afford $5?
Reach out. Seriously. I'd rather you attend for free than not attend at all. Email me and we'll work it out.
Your Seat Is Waiting
The next Support Group Plus session is coming up. No commitment. No pressure. No judgment. You can leave at any time. You don't even have to turn on your camera if you're not ready. Just show up and see what happens.
Some SGP members eventually start individual work — therapy, medication management, or coaching — but only when they're ready. There's no pressure, and the group stands on its own. Learn about individual services →
